Elvira Lindo presentará su último libro ‘Lugares que no quiero compartir con nadie’. En sus páginas, la autora recorre aquellos lugares de Nueva York que tienen algo especial, escenarios que evocan situaciones personales o que pertenecen a nuestro imaginario colectivo a través del cine o la literatura. A partir de una conversación con un desconocido en el barrio de Queens, a quien la escritora ha de explicar quién es, Elvira se retrata a sí misma a medida que rememora rincones de la gran manzana, algunos que todavía existen y otros que permanecen en el corazón.
La narradora es dueña de un estilo propio, de una voz tan literaria como empática, tan directa como cercana, ajena a cualquier retórica. Su prosa armoniza lo familiar e íntimo con una marcada personalidad en su modo de observar lo que la rodea. “Este libro es una trampa a mí misma: hablo de lugares que no me gustaría compartir con nadie, porque forman parte de mi vida cotidiana. No es una guía turística, pero ya se sabe, igual que el chismoso no puede evitar contar un secreto, el narrador cae siempre en el vicio de escribir lo que vive.”
ICNY welcomes the writer Elvira Lindo, who will read from her latest book ‘Places I Do Not Want to Share with Anyone’. In its pages, the author visits places in New York that represent something special, spots that are personally evocative or that belong to our collective imagination through film or literature. Through a conversation with a stranger in Queens, to whom the writer has to explain who she is, Elvira gives us a portrait of herself as she reminisces about her secret corners of the Big Apple, some of which still exist and others that live on in the heart.The writer’s style is all her own, a voice as literary as it is empathetic, as straightforward as it is familiar, devoid of rhetoric. Her prose blends the everyday and the intimate with a very particular manner of observing the surroundings. ”This book is a trap for myself. I talk about places that I do not want to share with anyone because they are part of my daily life. It is not a tourist guide, but you know, like the gossip who cannot help but tell you a secret, the narrator falls into the habit of writing about how she lives.”
